Course Objectives
Following course completion participants will:
1. Be capable of immediately and safely implementing advanced manual therapy techniques into their clinical practice.
2. Have increased confidence utilising manual therapy techniques to achieve effective management of common pathologies.
3. Have further refined their personal ergonomics towards optimised self care, patient comfort and increased clinical effectiveness.
4. Understand and be capable of putting into practice, evidence based subtle and effective techniques to avoid common overuse injuries

5. Understand soft tissue applications related to sports practice

Course pre requisites:

Undergraduate or postgraduate UK HPC registered Physiotherapist.

Completion of the practical ASTB course Foundation Skills in Massage & Soft Tissue Manipulation.

Evidence of clinical practice of soft tissue techniques

Course Content:

This is a high quality 12.5 hours CPD training designed to further develop particpants soft tissue manipulation skills, leading to a Certificate in Sports Massage for CPD.

This two day course trains specific soft tissue applications on the hand, foot, face & abdominal area.

Participants will complete the course understanding the key principles and applications of Muscle Energy Techniques, Soft Tissue Release, and Trigger Points, and how to use these technique with a variety of clinical conditions

Participants completing the course will understand the specific and different massage protocols relating to pre- event post event inter event and conditioning massage etc.

Students are expected to be familiar with their anatomy and surface anatomy

To gain the sports massage certificate students are required to complete 35 hours logged practice hours after they complete the two days

Reading Courses take place at The Inner Place

Course Content
This is a course for those Physiotherapist undergraduates and postgraduates who have already completed the 12.5 hours ASTB course Foundation Skills in Massage & Soft Tissue Manipulation, and who want to add a further high quality 12.5 hours training to their soft tissue manipulation skills, and gain a Certificate in Sports Massage for their CPD.

This two day course trains more specific applications for hand foot face & abdominal massage, participants will complete the course knowing the key principles of Muscle Energy Techniques, Soft Tissue Release, and Trigger Points, and how to apply them.

Participants completing the course will also know the specific and different massage protocols relating to pre- event post event inter event and conditioning massage etc.

Students are expected to be familiar with their anatomy and surface anatomy of the upper body, and be familiar with bony land marks
Pre-Requisite Foundation Skills in Massage and a log of 12 hours massage practice.

To gain the sports massage certificate students must complete a 35 hours practice hours log, which needs to be submitted after they complete the two days
