This two day course is for UK Regulated Healthcare Professionals
(Physiotherapist's Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Doctors & GP's).

A one day course in strapping & taping for sports will run before the two day sports & health MTB and in 2012 is discounted by 30% for those participants completing the ASTB part B.
Completion of both these courses provides graduates with competency to The International Federation of Sports Physical Therapy (IFSPT) recommended standard in the areas trained.
The Sports & Health MTB (Massage Manual Therapy & Bodywork) Course is a mixture of theory lectures and practical
Practical & Theory : Muscle Energy Techniques (METS), Trigger Points, Soft Tissue Release.
Practical : Hand, Foot , Face and Abdominal MTB sequences
Theory : Application of Sports and Health MTB in Common Health Conditions with relation to current research and publications.
The course lasts two days, pre course reading and revision of skeletal and muscular system anatomy is essential.
Participants MTB competency is assessed through a 30 minute sport and health MTB related practical exam and knowledge of contraindications, hygiene and sports & health applications through a 45 minute written exam. Results released after course completion.
Completion of this course will enable a regulated Healthcare Professional (Physiotherapist, GP's, Osteopath etc) to utilise these skills in Sports & Health MTB within their scope of practice, professional code of conduct and insurance with medical conditions within their scope of practice. Note that IFSPT require members to have completed training in these areas.
In additional undergraduate and lapsed HPC Physiotherapists can choose to register with ASTB and apply for membership of IPTI and take out additional insurance to work as a Sports & Health MTB Practitioner providing they pass the ASTB theory and written exams.
Further Details
Completion of the Sports & Health MTB course and exams demonstrate that graduates have a grounded competency in MTB application and theory. Exam results will be released after the course weekend. Where exams are failed or students opt out of the exams a certificate of attendance will be provided however this will not enable membership of IPTI.
The course is split between theory and practical and is a mixture of taught lectures and practical applications.
Examiners are experienced bodyworkers who are additionally certified as assessors with a recognised course provider.
