This training is for those professional student’s or practitioners who plan to work hands on, in the field of sports medicine and musculoskeletal.
The course is combined centre attendence and home study / guided learning for undergraduate (post year one level) & postgraduate Physiotherapist’s, Osteopaths and Medics.
For Accreditation of Prior Learning, evidence must be produced that specific areas have been studied. However exams for the six units are still required. Syllabus details on core areas that candidates muct know for assessment will be sent out pre course)
This qualification is recognised by the Sports Massage Association, gives entry to the BMMS, and enables candidates to join Federation of Holistic Therapists and Complementary Medicine Association, both recognised by the General Council for Massage Training.

HPC registered Healthcare practitioner’s, can practice with existing professional medical insurance, Physio, Osteopathy, or Medical students can work independently as a sports massage practitioner with FHT, or CMA membership and block insurance.

The complete 12 day centre attendence course includes the two day ASTB Foundation Skills (Which can be taken as a stand alone module)
Candidates must successfully achieve all six Active IQ mandatory units to receive the full Active IQ Certification. Active IQ provides a QCA nationally recognised qualification at level 3, in sports massage

Active IQ Qualification Structure: 6 Mandatory Units

Unit 1 – Clinical Issues in Sports Massage
Unit 2 – Further Anatomy and Physiology for Sports Massage
Unit 3 – Sports Massage Techniques
Unit 4 – Assessment of the Client for Sports Massage
Unit 5 – Soft Tissue Injury and Repair
Unit 6 – Post Care Advice following Sports Massage

Candidates complete units 2, 4, and 5 at the start of the first 5 day module.Participants are provided with guided learning tools to revise their knowledge base trained at undergraduate level.
Unit 1, is completed at the end of the first 5 day module

Units 3, and 6 are completed on the second module. Portfolio is built through the twelve days

Portfolio building during the course, and completion of all 6 Active IQ mandatory units, leads to full certification.

Course Centre Attendance: 12 Days
Two Days (Foundation Skills):
Two X 5 days of centre attendance at approximately one month interval.
Successful graduates from this course gain the Academy of Sports Therapy & Bodywork Diploma for Healthcare Practitioner’s and the Active IQ level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy, which is a vocationally related qualification (VRQ) at level 3, on the National Qualifications Framework

Option 1. Complete Course Cost: 12 days :
£1050 if whole course dates are booked and paid for in advance (this fee includes the £100 registration with Active IQ and revision material)

Option 2: A Deposit of £750 paid on booking Foundation Skills, dates reserved for the two 5 day modules: Balance of £400 payable at the end of the Foundation Skills weekend
Total £1150 (this fee includes the £100 registration with Active IQ and pre first 5 day module revision material)

Option 3: Foundation Skills booked as a stand alone module for £165 (Early Booking can discount this to £145) and the 10 day course booked at a later date for £1200 (this second fee includes the £100 registration with Active IQ and pre first 5 day module revision material)

Entry requirement: Student Physiotherapist, or Osteopath post year 1 of study, or Qualified Medical Practitioner

You are trained by Experienced clinician Physiotherapist’s and Sports Massage Practitioners who work with Elite Athletes, and Sports Clubs

This Sports Massage Course enables you to use the title “Sports Massage Practitioner”

A First Aid Certification is recommended for independent practice

Physiotherapist’s, and undergraduate Physiotherapist’s who complete this course can work with teams and individual’s as a Physiotherapist Sports Massage Practitioner.
