Participants completing this course will achieve an attendence certificate and also a certificate indicating their level of  competence in FOUNDATION SKILLS IN MTB  (MASSAGE, MANUAL THERAPY & BODYWORK) 

Qualfied & Regulated Healthcare Professional's can utilise the skills learned within their professional scope of practice, code of conduct and insurance


All course participants can progress to Certificate in Sports & Health MTB which is run ONCE a Year in November

This 2 day intensive course develops practical skill and confidence. Participants achieve the understanding required to utilize the skills learned within scope of practice. How to assess and treat a variety of conditions with 'hands on' classic manual therapy massage and soft tissue manipulons. Mainly practical, the course trains effective ergonomic practice of fundamental bodywork, massage and soft tissue techniques and provides the skill required to swiftly change joint range improve skeletal alignment and improve movement efficiency. To ensure a competency equivalent to a Level 3 an observed practice hour of body massage and STT is completed on day two


Previous practitioners who have completed this course work in the fields of Sport & Dance Medicine, Neurological Rehabilitation, General Practice, Musculoskeletal Medicine, Occupational Health, Mental Health, Pain Management.

Your Trainer
Jill Wigmore-Welsh is a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist who qualified in 1977. On qualifying she worked in the NHS in London and then in the provinces as a Band 8 specialising in orthopaedics, neurology, musculoskeletal and rehabilitation. After 8 years in the NHS she moved into independent practice. She has 25 years experience treating professional sportmen, national, international, medal wining and elite Athletes. As Physiotherapist to the British Judo Squads & British Rowing Squads she treated the top GP squads all over the World at World Championships, Commonwealth Games, European Championships.. She has been Physio to Semi Professional Football Clubs, Rugby Clubs, Public School Teams and dance schools. In her private practice she still treats people who take part in sport from weekend warrior level to elite squad.

10 years ago Jill started to lecture at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and present at conferences. In 2002 she founded Inner Place Training. In 2007 the name changed to Academy of Sports Therapy & Bodywork. 

In addition to practicing as a Physiotherapist Jill is a well recognised Positive Psychologist & Positive Somatologist.

Jill has completed the basic four year  IFF Diploma in The Feldenkrais Method in 1999 and advanced trainings of The Trilogy with Larry Goldfarb and the developed processes of Bones for Life with Ruthy Alon.

She has studied NLP since 2000 attaining NLP Trainer status in 2008 through examinations with Talisman Training. 

She is also a Positive Hypnotherapist & Personal Development Coach working to create good health and runs the Reading Laughter Club

Her style is unique she trains from the heart with passion and creates a dynamic humorous safe and supportive learning environment.

Objectives
By the end of the course you will be able to
•perform clinically appropriate massage, soft tissue and bodywork techniques with your patients within your scope of practice
•work hands on with reduced risk of personal injury utilising increased self awareness and basic Soma FMI®
•solve clinical problems using therapeutic applications of soft tissue techniques
•describe the core massage techniques and their place in outcome based practice and therapeutic applications in current practice
•perform appropriate massage, soft tissue and bodywork techniques with your patients
